20세기 초, 신채호 선생은 민족의식을 일깨운 ‘신국민’ 개념을 통해 식민 지배에 저항하고, 역사의 주체로 살아갈 새로운 국민상을 제시했습니다. 홍단은 2025년 광복 80주년을 맞아 이 정신을 오늘날의 시선으로 풀어내고자 했습니다. 각자의 자리에서 빛나는 현대 대한민국 국민들을 수많은 빛의 입자로 형상화해 하나의 태극기 그래픽으로 구성하였습니다. 작고 유연한 입자들이 모여 태극기를 이루듯, 깨어 있는 개인들이 함께 더 나은 사회를 만들어간다는 메시지를 담고자 했습니다.

To mark the 80th anniversary of Korea’s liberation in 2025, Studio Hongdan reinterprets this spirit through a contemporary lens.

The modern citizens of Korea each shining in their own way are visualized as countless particles of light, collectively forming a single Taegukgi graphic.

Just as small, flexible particles come together to shape the national flag, the work conveys a message: that conscious individuals, when united, can build a better society.
