본 작품은 광복 80주년을 기념하며 숫자 ‘80’을 태극기의 상징 요소로 재해석한 그래픽 포스터입니다.

‘8’의 곡선은 태극 문양의 음양 곡선을 모티브로 하여, 조화와 균형이라는 철학을 시각적으로 풀어냈습니다.

색상은 태극기의 전통 색상인 파랑과 빨강을 중심으로 구성하였으며, 네 방향의 건·곤·감·리의 괘를 간결하게 표현하였습니다.

중심에서 퍼져나가는 빛은 어둠 속에서 피어난 해방의 순간 그리고 다시 펼쳐진 태극기를

상징합니다. 만약 1945년 8월 15일, “내가 태극기를 그렸다면?” 이라는 질문에서 시작된 이 작업은, 그날의

감동을 오늘의 시선으로 되새기기 위한 시도입니다.

This graphic poster commemorates the 80th anniversary of Korea’s liberation by reinterpreting the number “80” through the symbolic elements of the Taegukgi.

The curved form of the “8” draws inspiration from the yin-yang swirl of the Taegeuk, visually expressing the philosophy of harmony and balance.

The color palette centers on the Taegukgi’s traditional red and blue, while four black lines represent the trigrams Geon, Gon, Gam, and Ri in a simplified form.

Radiating light from the center symbolizes both the moment of liberation that broke through the darkness, and the unfolding of the Taegukgi once again.

This work began with a question: “What if I had drawn the Taegukgi on August 15, 1945?”

It is an attempt to revisit that historic emotion through the lens of today.
