〈광복절 노래〉는, 조국의 땅을 되찾은 기쁨과 함께 광복을 보지 못한 채 순국한 선열의 뜻을 기리는 노래입니다. 동명의 작품 〈광복절 노래〉는, 그 악보를 태극기의 상징‧형태로 재구성하여 역사의 음(音)과 색(色)을 함께 담습니다. 태극기의 기호와 음악의 기보를 엮음으로써, 광복의 의미를 보고, 듣고, 느끼는 방식으로 기억하고자 합니다.

건‧곤‧감‧리의 네 괘는 보표로 기능하는 동시에 획의 개수에 따라 박자를 담습니다. 획이 가장 많은 ‘곤’은 가장 짧은 박자를, 획이 가장 적은 ‘건’은 가장 긴 박자를 표시합니다. 또한 태극의 원형과 색은 음의 높낮이를 담습니다. 태양을 뜻하는 붉은 원으로는 높은 음을, 바다를 뜻하는 푸른 원으로는 낮은 음을 표시하였습니다.

By weaving together the symbols of the Korean flag and the structure of musical notation, the work invites us to see, hear, and feel the meaning of liberation.

The four trigrams Geon, Gon, Gam, and Ri not only serve as musical staves, but also convey rhythm based on the number of strokes in each trigram.

Gon, with the most strokes, represents the shortest notes, while Geon, with the fewest, indicates the longest.

The circular shapes and colors of the Taegeuk express pitch: the red circle, symbolizing the sun, denotes higher tones, while the blue circle, representing the sea, indicates lower tones.
