본 작품은 광복 당시 덕온공주의 손녀이자 한글 궁체 서예가였던 윤백영 선생(1888-1986)의

「대한해방감회문」에서 영감을 받아 제작되었습니다. “남산은 천년산이요, 한강은 만년수라.’이 첫 구절은

그 자체로 광복의 감격과 한국의 역사적 영속성을 상징적으로 드러냅니다.

포스터에 사용된 레터링 역시 윤백영 선생의 궁체 필적에서 착안해 고유의 리듬과 곡선을 현대적으로 재해석하여 구성하였습니다.

또한 태극기 그리고 국가의 평화와 번영을 의미하는 일월오봉도의 색채를 통해 민족의 정체성을 담아내고자 하였습니다.

태극 문양이나 사괘 없이도 우리는 언어로써 한국의 상징성과 존엄을 전할 수 있다고 믿습니다.

이 레터링이 새로운 형태의 태극기가 되어 해방의 기쁨과 감회를 오늘에 다시금 되새길 수 있기를 바랍니다.

This work is inspired by “Reflections on Korea’s Liberation” (Daehan Haebang Gamhoemun) by Yoon Baek-young (1888–1986), a granddaughter of Princess Deokon and a renowned calligrapher of Korean palace script.

The opening line, “Namsan is a thousand-year mountain, and the Han River a ten-thousand-year stream,” poetically embodies both the emotional impact of liberation and Korea’s enduring historical identity.

The lettering used in the poster is a modern reinterpretation of Yoon’s graceful gungche script, drawing from its distinct rhythm and curvature.

Colors referencing the Irworobongdo a traditional Korean landscape painting that symbolizes peace and prosperity were used to further express national identity.

Even without the Taegeuk symbol or formal insignia, this work believes in language as a powerful medium to convey Korean dignity and symbolism.

May this lettering become a new kind of Taegukgi, allowing us to revisit the joy and meaning of liberation through a contemporary lens.
