팔괘의 정역팔괘도(正易八卦圖) 배치를 활용해 광복 80주년을 기념했습니다. 정역팔괘도는 조선 후기 김일부(1826~1898)가 주역을 재해석 한 것으로, 광복이 가져온 사상적 독립을 내포합니다. 그 안에 담긴 우주의 순환 원리는 일제 강점기의 어둠(黑)이 광(光)복으로 바뀌는 순간과 맞닿아 있습니다. 태극 문양은 온점으로서 지난 80년간 나라의 독립이 흔들림 없이 완성되었음을 나타냅니다.

To commemorate the 80th anniversary of Korea’s Liberation, this work draws inspiration from the arrangement of the “Jeongyeok Eight Trigrams” (正易八卦圖). Developed by Kim Il-bu (1826–1898) in the late Joseon Dynasty as a reinterpretation of the I Ching, this cosmological chart symbolizes a philosophical independence akin to the liberation of Korea. The cycle of the universe embedded in the diagram mirrors the historical moment when the darkness (黑) of Japanese occupation was overcome by the light (光) of liberation.

The Taeguk symbol at the center is represented as a solid circle (onjeom), signifying the unwavering completion of Korea’s 80-year journey toward independence.
