태극기 중앙 무늬의 위아래 대칭 구조에서 영감을 받아 ‘카드’ 일러스트 형식을 떠올렸습니다. 현세대에게 익숙한 카드를 연상시키는 구조에 안중근 의사와 유관순 열사를 캐릭터 화해 위아래로 배치하고, 굵은 선과 깔끔한 채색을 통해 역사적 상징과 현대적 감각을 동시에 담고자 했습니다. 광복을 현세대가 잊지 않기를 바라는 마음으로, 위쪽 안중근 캐릭터를 붉게, 아래쪽 유관순 캐릭터를 푸르게 칠해 태극무늬를 연상 시켰고, 두 캐릭터를 무궁화로 둘러 광복의 의미와 우리나라 고유의 아름다움을 담아냈습니다. 또한, 우리나라 전통 단청 문양에서 파생된 장식을 네 모서리에 두어 견곤감리와 결합해 태극기의 형태를 재해석했습니다. 작품의 제목인 ‘결’은 묶고 잇고 완성한다는 뜻으로, 광복을 위해 헌신한 두 인물을 하나의 태극기 형태 안에 이어 역사와 현재, 희생과 자유, 한국적 정체성을 하나로 ‘결’짓는다는 의미를 담았습니다. 과거의 희생과 정신을 오늘의 시선으로 다시 이어 보고, 광복의 의미를 잊지 않고 기억하고자 한 작품입니다.

Inspired by the symmetry of the Taegeuk at the center of the Korean flag, this poster reimagines it in the form of a card illustration. Independence activists Ahn Jung-geun and Yu Gwan-sun are depicted in bold, modern lines Ahn in red above, Yu in blue below framed by mugunghwa flowers and dancheong-inspired corner motifs that echo the flag’s trigrams.

Titled “Gyeol”, meaning to tie, connect, and complete, the work unites past and present, sacrifice and freedom into a single visual symbol. It is a tribute to those who gave everything for liberation, reminding us to remember, connect, and carry their legacy forward.
