광복 80주년을 기념하며, 우리 민족의 염원과 외침을 시각적으로 되새기고자 태극기를 타이포그래피로 재해석한 작품입니다. 제목대로 한사람이 모이고, 글자가 모이고, 여럿이 모이면 큰 결과를 이루어 낼 수 있다는 걸 표현 하고싶었습니다. ‘대한독립 만세’라는 말들이 아래로 흘러내리며 쌓이는 모습은, 수많은 이들의 외침이 모여 결국 광복이라는 결실을 이루었다는 상징적 의미를 담고 있습니다. 각 문양은 ’대대대’, ‘한한한’, ‘민민민’, ‘국국국’와 같은 반복되는 글자들로 구성되어 있어, 당시 민중들의 하나된 의지를 표현하고자 했습니다. 중앙에 있는 문양은 독립운동가분들을 나열해 배치하였고, 빈티지한 질감은 시간의 흐름과 함께 풍화된 듯한 역사의 무게를 시각적으로 전달합니다. 이 작품은 단순한 디자인을 넘어, 타이포그래피를 통해 역사를 기리고 기억하려는 시도이기도 합니다.

To commemorate the 80th anniversary of Liberation, this work reinterprets the Taegeukgi through typography to visually evoke the longing and outcry of the Korean people. As the title suggests “When We Come Together as One” the piece emphasizes that when one person, one letter, and many voices unite, great outcomes can be achieved.

The phrase “Daehan Dongnip Manse” (“Long Live Korean Independence”) is shown flowing downward and accumulating, symbolizing how countless cries ultimately led to the fruition of liberation. Each visual element is composed of repeated characters like “대대대” (dae-dae-dae), “한한한” (han-han-han), “민민민” (min-min-min), and “국국국” (guk-guk-guk), expressing the collective spirit of the people at the time.

At the center, the composition features the names of independence activists, and the vintage textures convey the weight of history weathered by time. More than just a design, this work is an attempt to honor and remember history through the medium of typography.
