태극기의 구성 요소를 해체하여 태극 마크로 환희와 희생을, 배경을 이루는 4궤의 반복되는 패턴으로는 독립이 되기까지의 고난 한 과정을 재해석하였습니다.  80년전 광복의 그날은 붉은색과 푸른색, 음과 양으로 구성된 태극무늬처럼, 다시 되찾은 광복에 대한 환희(붉은색)과 수많은 독립 유공자들의 희생(푸른색)으로 이루어져 있었습니다. 이런 환희와 희생을 딛고 나아간 우리 민족의 결연한 의지를 태극을 딛고 있는 소녀를 통해 잠시나마 느껴 보셨으면 좋겠습니다.

By deconstructing the elements of the Taegeukgi (Korean national flag), this work reinterprets the Taegeuk symbol as a representation of joy and sacrifice, while the repeated pattern of the four trigrams in the background reflects the hardships endured on the path to independence.

Eighty years ago, the day of Korea’s liberation was, like the Taegeuk symbol composed of red and blue, yin and yang, a moment woven from both the joy of reclaiming independence (red) and the sacrifice of countless independence patriots (blue).

Through the image of a girl standing upon the Taegeuk, we hope you can feel, if only for a moment, the unwavering will of our people who rose above both joy and sacrifice.
